Filming for a special episode of the popular British series “Birds of a Feather” is currently underway at various locations around the Maltese Islands. This series premiered on British television in 1989 and is now followed by almost eight million viewers. Producer Matthew Mulot praised Malta for its locations and excellent crews making the shoot possible and successful. Johnny Depp To Star in ‘Murder On The Orient Express’ At Fox
Studio has announced that Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Michael Pena and Judi Dench will join the picture in supporting roles. Studio’s release is included under Deadline’s original scoop on Johnny Depp.
Johnny Depp is in talks to star for director Kenneth Branagh in the Murder On The Orient Express remake. This comes after Angelina Jolie stepped out. The pic is moving fast: Depp will star with Branagh, who’ll play detective Hercule Poirot in a script that Blade Runner 2 scribe Michael Green adapted from Agatha Christie’s novel.

Rosamund Pike, Daniel Bruhl and Vincent Cassel are in talks to board Jose Padilha’s Entebbe for Brit production powerhouse Working Title. Participant is also on board as producer and in negotiations to fully finance.
In what is a near-perfect union of filmmaker, subject and cast, this is shaping up to be a major motion picture likely to attract plenty of interest — particularly given recent world events. Greg Burke, who wrote Yann Demange’s brilliant ’71, is penning the screenplay.

‘Search for Atlantis - A James Cameron TV Documentary shoots in Malta
Film director James Cameron, famous for directing Titanic and Avatar, is the executive producer on “ Search for Atlantis”, a documentary which was partly shot in Malta for National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel Canada.
Cameron said that “Finding the historical and archaeological truth behind the Atlantis myth has always been a fascination of mine… Our exploration team will investigate several new theories about where the real Atlantis was, who these mysterious people were and what disaster wiped them from the Earth over three millennia ...

Industry rumours indicate that the Universal Pictures film will feature Tom Cruise and Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella
After 13 Hours, Malta may yet again play stand-in to a war-torn North African region, though this time the focus will be on the stars and the special effects spectacle, as a remake of the popular Mummy movies - allegedly starring Tom Cruise - is rumoured to have picked Malta as at least one of its locations ahead its 2017 release.

The film, directed by Terry George (Hotel Rwanda, In the Name of the Father) also stars acclaimed character actor Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Drive) and up-and-coming French actress Charlotte Le Bon (Mood Indigo, The Walk), however it remains to be confirmed whether the two will be accompanying Bale on the Malta shoot. If so, it would mark Isaac’s second trip to Malta, as the Guatemala-born actor also starred in Agora, filmed in Malta in 2008.

Major French film to be shot in Malta
UGC, a major production house in France, will next month be shooting the film ‘Immediate Boarding’ in Malta, the Malta Film Commission said.
The production has selected various locations across the island including the water tanks at the Malta Film Studios in Kalkara, Valletta, Vittoriosa, Senglea and Majjistral Park.
‘Immediate Boarding’ is a French comedy written and directed by Philippe de Chauveron, who last year took the international box office by storm with his hit film ‘Serial Bad Weddings’.

Raoul Bova to film episodes of Italian teleseries 'Task Force 45' in Malta
This is the second time for the renowned Italian actor Raoul Bova to film in Malta after ‘Come un Delfino’.
Two episode of an Italian TV series, titled "Task Force 45 - Friendly Fire" and produced by RB Productions, is set to start filming in Malta as of next week.

Filming has started in Malta of a new feature film based on the true story of amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst and his attempt to win the first Golden Globe around the world yacht race in 1968.
Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Colin Firth (Kingsman: The Secret Service, The King’s Speech, A Single Man), starring as Donald Crowhurst, is in Malta this week to film scenes for the movie.

American-French action thriller ‘The Lake’ is set to start filming in Malta next month, the Malta Film Commission said.
With a cast composed of Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire), Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Charlie Bewley (Twilight series) and Diarmaid Murtagh (Sons of Liberty), the Lake is considered to be one of the most ambitious international production directed by Steve Quale and written by Luc Besson and Richard Wenk.

The big screen version of Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender is gearing up for production in the UK and Malta.
The adaptation of the popular historical fiction video game has been in the pipeline for some time and sees Fassbender reunited with Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard and director Justin Kurzel, who directed the Shakesperean tragedy, which also shot in various locations around the UK.

London, Malta find 20,000 Reasons to make films
A partnership between Film London and the Malta Film Commission has resulted in the announcement of a feature film and the creation of Microwave International: Malta, the first global iteration of Film London’s training through production scheme.
Following a week long Microschool training programme in which 20 Maltese filmmakers participated and then pitched projects to an expert panel, the romantic comedy 20,000 Reasons was selected and awarded a production budget of €200,000.

The story develops around one of the best gamblers of the time (impersonated by the famous Russian actor Maxim Matveev) dealing with the traditional problems of gambling industry.

Belgian Film to be shot in Malta & Gozo
Studio 100, a leading TV & Film production company in Belgium, has selected Malta to shoot a new feature length film.
Having had a successful filming experience in 2013 with "Pirate Pete and the Sea Monster", Studio 100 will be returning to Malta this month to film at key locations in Malta and Gozo. The two islands will serve as a backdrop for this new adventure family film. The film has potential for future screen tourism activities and was made possible thanks to the new financial guidelines launched by the Malta Film Commission.

Malta to get its first national film policy
National film policy to focus on attracting foreign film productions, improving the local film industry and local film training, and providing better salaries and conditions for workers in the industry.
Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis has set up a consultative committee to draft Malta’s first national film policy.
“This is the first step towards making the film industry a new economic niche,” Zammit Lewis said.

13 Hours: Michael Bay film set built near Flower Power
A rather large film set is being built in Ta’ Qali, which, according to sources, will serve as part of Michael Bay’s new film called 13 hours.
The set is being build adjacent to flower power, and is primarily being constructed out of wood and stone. The footprint is quite large.
